Unfortunately, the only way to tail it is through a door that has been rusted shut from the perpetual rain and general sloppiness of the city.
However, rumour has it that there is someone here who will actually be of help, and that guy is standing right next to the Inn. Talk to him to purchase some Rust-Rid for the door. Through the door is Mt. Zozo, which is exactly what it sounds like. This place is full of monsters that are generally pretty weak, but have really high Evasion, so hitting them with physical attacks will be difficult at times.
Go as far west as possible and take an Ice Shield from a chest waiting to be opened. From here, head southeast. Pick up a Red Cap from the treasure chest, and go down the stairs. Follow the linear path, and grab a Thunder Shield from the chest along the way.
Continue up the bridge and stop to collect the Aegis Shield from another chest. Go through the door immediately north of the Aegis Shield box to find a Gold Hairpin , and then go back inside, and through the only other opening in this cavern. Follow the path to the next indoor chamber. Inside, cross the bridge to the west, and use a Tent at the Save Point. The chest contains Books. In the Super NES release is it a single book on machinery and a "book of secrets", while in the GBA release the item represents multiple books machines and "Bushido in the Bedroom", implicitly a pornographic text.
The path to Cyan is linear, though winding. The larger cave exit in the first area continues on across the mountain, into another cave, and the lower exit shortly leads to Cyan's room.
Exiting to the cliff initiates a cutscene after which Cyan rejoins the party. An easy way to make it through Mt. Zozo with minimal risk is to summon Phantom early in the dungeon, as all monsters except for the optional boss Storm Dragon only use physical attacks. This also includes the Mugbear 's Steal. With Vanish set on the party the enemies of Mt.
Zozo will be powerless to damage them. Enemies in the mountain have high Evasion, so attacks that cannot miss like Sabin's Blitzes and Edgar's Tools do well to elliminate them.
The Storm Dragon , one of the eight legendary dragons , lives here. It can be found in the same cavern with the save point , by stepping on a switch. The Storm Dragon will emerge from a distant treasure chest and circle the cavern, the battle initiating when it comes in contact with the player. The Storm Dragon is one of the most powerful of the eight legendary dragons, especially if the player chooses to follow the story nudges to come to Mt.
Zozo immediately after acquiring the airship. Before the rise of normal, honest tactics, the usual method of winning this battle was casting Banish. The Soul Savers restore themselves over and over again, but when you successfully suck both Soul Savers into the parallel dimension with Banish, they can't do that and you'll just win the battle. The downside here is that you won't win the Guard Bracelet from Wrexsoul, as you won't have actually defeated him.
Normally, you'll just want to completely ignore the Soul Savers. Minerva Bustier wearers take no damage from them and anybody with an elemental shield should take very little damage all-round anyway Thunder Shield s are the best, as Thundaga is cast most often. Strago can commit easy suicide with Self-Destruct careful: Transfusion removes him from the battle; you don't want that. Shadow can throw Fuma Shuriken s or Shuriken to do unblockable and non-elemental damage, while Setzer's Fixed Dice serve the same purpose.
If you don't have these characters, just go ahead with spells and Fight attacks where you can; Flare and Break are great for killing party members provided they hit.
Whenever Wrexsoul appears, act fast and furious! His Magic Defense is a stunning , which makes sure that if a magical attack isn't barrier-piercing, it'd have to be a Blizzaga spell coming from Morphed Terra to do a lot of damage. Barrier-piercing attacks can even be multi-targeted; Mega Flare, Grand Delta , and Gau's Tyrannosaur -induced Meteor attacks work splendidly. A Flare spell is better than the Blizzaga spell if you have the choice.
The pure magicians in your party should either cast Flare or Blizzaga or simply resort to attacking. If Strago hasn't learned Grand Delta or Quasar yet, Traveler is his best option dual Ice Rods are also an option here, if you don't mind unusual equipment set-ups.
